Father’s Day is fast approaching, and if the men in your life are anything like those in mine, they may not be the easiest to buy gifts for. Enter this guide for eight local Father’s Day gift ideas on Cape Cod that are a tad outside of the box.

Every year, I’m always racking my brain trying to figure out what to get for my husband, who says he doesn’t need anything. I also try to think of creative ideas for my own dad. I’ve put together this list in hopes it will provide you with some inspiration for the upcoming holiday.

Top Local Gift Ideas for Dad

1. Boat Rental

This is the perfect gift for the guy in your life who loves to boat but doesn’t own one. It’s a fun thing that you can all enjoy together. My dad LOVES boating, and this is always a gift we consider. There are so many great places on the Cape from which you can do short-term rentals.  At the top of my list is All Cape Boat Rentals in Hyannis. They offer pontoon boats, center consoles, and bowriders.

2. Cape Cod Beach Chairs

These are my favorite beach chairs. I own one and am obsessed. If you read my Mother’s Day gift guide, you know I put this on there as well. The chairs from Cape Cod Beach Chair Company are SO comfortable and well made. They are a splurge but definitely would make the perfect Father’s Day gift for the man in your life who appreciates a good beach day.

The Islands shop on Main Street in Hyannis has an awesome assortment of button-up themed Hawaiian shirts by the RSVLTS brand. Every time we go to this shop, my husband always eyes the selection. They have everything from Jurassic Park shirts to Disney to Star Wars and everything in between. Plus, there are lots of cute hats and sandals that you could easily add on to make a fun outfit gift.

Who doesn’t love a good beer tasting? Cape Cod Beer offers an at-home beer-tasting package with four local beers and a cooler. There are more than a dozen beers to choose from. The set is designed for four people and includes glasses and beer descriptions. You also have the ability to order more beer if you want to include more people in your tasting.

5. Vuori Joggers

Vuori is a favorite in my household for both my husband and myself. The joggers are his go-to piece. Island Outfitters in Osterville has a great assortment of items from the brand, including the joggers. They are so comfortable and lightweight. The pants are a bit of a splurge as far as sweats go, making them the perfect gift!

6. Fancy Coffee/Espresso Maker

Is the dad in your life a coffee lover? There are many great machines out there. Recently, I spotted the Breville Barista Express, a machine I’ve been eying for a while. While it’s sold at multiple Cape retailers, I saw it at the Osterville Mercantile.  This would definitely be a special gift if your man loves coffee. It could also easily be paired with beans from a local shop like Cape Cod Coffee.

7. Seal Cruise

Looking for an adventure-type of gift that the whole family can enjoy together? How about a seal cruise? Monomoy Island Excursions offers family-friendly trips into the lagoons where the gray seals gather. The tour is aboard their 43-foot boat named The Perseverance. The tour lasts around 75 minutes.

 8. Yeti Cooler

Now that summer is upon us let’s talk about a practical but splurge type of gift…the Yeti cooler. I’m very partial to these soft coolers that keep everything cool and are easy to carry on your adventures. These are available at numerous Cape Cod retailers, including Bradford’s Ace Hardware in Hyannis and Anchor Ace Hardware in Sandwich. Plus, if you’re looking to get more creative you could buy a cooler and stock it with some local goods—perhaps the Cape Cod Beer sampler mentioned above.
